Gifts for the broken and weary.....

Well this is what Jackson and Garrett get for having a broken foot, and a perferated ear drum. Poppy showered them with an almost 4' giraffe, and 28" elephant! Not to mention the box of candy she sent them a couple days before! I am going bald, these last 3 weeks have been insane. It all started with Garrett getting spots all over his tummy and legs. I thought they might be chicken pox but it turned out to be a viral rash due to an ear infection. Then Jackson broke his foot. Two days later the back of Jackson's legs were covered in those same spots. They finally cleared up and then he got the flu (not the swine flu). That night Garrett's ear drum burst and was draining blood and fluid everywhere! It was nasty, as Garrett would say. Eight days later Garrett's ear is still draining, so back to the doctor on Tuesday. But thanks to my mom she was able to cheer them up and brighten their day. It has made things a little easier for me. Now if Hannah's teeth would only come in already!

Broken

Well it finally happened. I have been anticipating this day for a long time, and unfortunately I am sure that it will happen again. We were visiting Grandma Mona (Shawn's grandfather whose past wife) and Jackson jumped from a raised garden bed and landed funny on his foot. I took him to the doctor on Saturday, and they did x-rays and didn't see anything. Well when your six year old is crawling and refuses to walk something is going on. So today I took him to Dr. Jones, who is a podiatrist, and also happens to be in our ward. Sure enough on the x-ray there was a clean break across the top of his foot! This may sound weird but I am glad that it is broken, and I don't have a 6 year old crawling around everywhere for an unexplained reason. He is up and at em' now. He will be back in school tomorrow! This will be a fun 6 weeks.

Hearing Aids!

These are Hannah Lu's pink hearing aids. When the audiologist put them on, I spoke softly and Hannah Lu whipped her head around and looked right at me. She doesn't really bother them as much as she yanks on her glasses. Tonight I was getting the kids ready for bed and she was just bouncing around all over the place. The only thing that I could think of was that she was excited to hear all of the noise that the boys were making. There were nine kids at my house earlier this evening, and they were all playing in our living room. Hannah Lu was bouncing up and down on my knee, and waving her arms everywhere, and just talking up a storm. One thing that was a shocker to me is that the battery life in her hearing aids are 5 to 9 days! So one thing that Santa Claus will always put in her stalking, batteries. We will be buying them in bulk from Sam's Club. Now she is almost as good as new. October 20th is our next hurdle, she will have her cleft pallet fixed.
Seeeeeeeee

they are hardly noticable

I like it that they don't look as big as I originally thought they would be

Utah State Fair

This last Thursday and Friday the kids and I went to Salt Lake to get Hannah Lu's hearing aids. So I have decided to make every trip a memorable one, because I don't want the boys growing up and remembering the boring trips to Salt Lake for Hannah Lu. So this trip out the State Fair was here. When we got to Salt Lake the boys had a dentist appt. and then we went and picked up Auntie Amy and hit the fair grounds. We picked a good night to go, it was opening night, the kids were free, and me and Amy were $2.00 each. Great deal, considering between the two of us we blew $50.00 for rides! We enjoyed seeing the animals as well as yummy funnel cakes! I am sure we will be back next year.

My favorite, moo cows

Ooooooohh, what is it? Yes, that is a goat. A mighty ugly one I must say

First Day of School

Jackson's first day of Kindergarten. I can't believe it. He was up at 6:30 am! A little excited maybe? I tried to get a few pictures, but everyone was push, push, shove, shove so at least I got these. Shawn is home today, so Garrett will stay busy with Dad, but come the following days, I think he will be a little lonely. Shawn gave Jackson a father's blessing this morning. I think it was a little more comforting to me than Jackson. But I am greatfull for the priesthood in our home and that Shawn is able to do that. I remember my Dad would give us a blessing every fall before school started. So I am, or shall I say Shawn is going to carry on that tradition.
A quick snapshot, at least he turned around when I called his name.

UNBELIEVABLE!

Who would have ever thought that it would happen again! Shawn calls me at home, while he is at work and says Rita(a girl he used to work with at the airport, now working for an insurance company) called him and said someone ripped a tree out in our front yard. I said, "What"! I didn't even hear it happen. The kid that did it left a note on our screen door and left. Fortunately for us if he had decided not to do that, my son Jackson found his license plate in the tree. As you can see he missed the boulder that we purposely put there to prevent this from happening again. There will be more boulders going in soon. Unbelievable!
